Patient and caregiver partnership – Leading by example in pediatric care
The Canadian healthcare system is slowly coming to understand the value of engaging patients and caregivers when it comes to improving healthcare, but what exactly constitutes meaningful patient and caregiver engagement is often difficult to describe. Looking beyond the basics of patient and family advisory councils and satisfaction surveys, we’re going to hear from leaders in healthcare that are pushing the boundaries of how patients and caregivers are engaged as true partners in the improvement and delivery of healthcare services.
This session will discuss the role of patients and caregivers from the strategic level to their role on care teams. The panel will highlight the importance of leadership, organizational culture and systemic barriers that often prevent meaningful participation of patients and caregivers.
